    They say women cry and men don’t. In this documentary the cry of Manuela Ballester is an angry cry of a renown pinter of the 20th century Spanish plastics. Daughter, sister and wife of artists (Antonio, Tonico and José Renau), mother of five, a Civil War, two exiles (Mexico and GDR), the death of two of her children… Manuela Ballester was born in Valencia November 1908, more than a century ago.

  • GIOVANNA RIBES is a valencian audiovisual artist and producer with experience in documentary cinema and fiction, videoart and creation. Member of CIMA, EWA, EDN, DeA, PAV and the Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España, she is director of the Festival Internacional Dona i Cinema – Women & Film. Her work has been acclaimed internationally. Her most recent productions are La Familia (Dementia), El Paseante, El lento Caminar de las Orugas and Un Suave Olor a Canela – with special recognition by the Spanish government for its treatment of genre equality.

    In La Bendición, a village in the Guatemalan coast, scarcity and poverty dictate daily routine. Alfredo prays for the health of his wife Gloria but in town nobody has enogh food. As everyday, Alfredo cook white rice for Gloria, but today his fingers stumble, accidentally, with an old recipe hidden in a kitchen drawer.

    Born in Castellon 14th of February. She has a degree in Comunicacion Audiovisual in Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB, Barcelona)  and recieved an Erasmus grant in Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Louvain, Belgium). Studying a post-graduate study in scipt writting fot fiction features by ESCAC (Escuela de cine y audiovisuales de Catalunya) and took part in the IV Taller Internacional de giuón Bolivia, with Senel Paz, José Ángel Esteba and Julio Rojas, and in the Curso de direccion de actores, with Begoña Soler («La buena fe»).   • M.Carmen Poveda Coscollá was born in Valencia in 1975. She studied Bellas artes in the Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Politecnica de Valencia between 1993 and 1998, and later got a PhD in Corporal Expression of Animated Characters. Her works are about stories of characerts, viewed both comically and poetically, giving great importance to the musical composition. She has made four animated shorts: «Romeo y Julieta» (1998), «Un trozo de viento» (2005), «La silla flamenca (2008) and «Vida Mía» (2016), alternating techniques as 2D traditional animation with stop motion and experimental animation. Some festivals have shown her films, Festival Internacional de Cine de Animación Annecy, Festival de Cine Cinema Jove and Festival Inernacional de Cine Animadrid, among others. Nowadays she directs the animation studio El escalón de Julieta, which primarily focus on the creation of animated films and other audiovisual projects.

    Lucía was born in 1985 in Traiguera, a small valencia town where she lived until she was 18, whe she moved to Vic to get her degree in Educacion Audiovisual. In Vic she worked in the hotel business until 2009, when she started at the Escac, where she discovered her passion. Her passion for the most extreme realism got her practicing with unprogesional actors and lean into improvisation as an origin of conflict. Fron all this endless search of truth comes «14 anys i un dia», shot at her home town, in her mother language and with local girls playing themselves. At the presente, she has entered the Escuela de Interpretación Nancy Tuñón Jordi Oliver in Barcelona, where she keeps learning how direct arctors meanwhile she gets inte the professional world of the cinema.

    He was the only survivor of the old glories of the guild, last survivor of those tanners who were the pride of valencian history. His old colleagues grandchildren had been spoiled by progress: they were owners of big factoris with hunderds of worker, but they would be in big travel if asked to tan with their soft merchant hands. Onlye he deserve to be called a tanner, he worked everyday in his shack, close to the guild house; master and worker at the same time, without any hel but his own children and grandchildren; the workshop was oldschool, a sweet family feeling, neither strike threats nor pay arguments.

    Djalal was obsessed by wargames before he could walk. Brought up as only son of a middle class Catalonian family, his parent gave him everything he asked. He had all kind of toy weapons to play pretend soldier, and when he was growing up his games become more sofisticated. He started to film himself recreating military actions and then he uploaded it to Youtube under the identity of Lord_Sex, getting thousands of followers. Following his passion to a extreme he went to Afghanistan to figh as a sniper.
    But nowadays war is not like in movies… Djalal came home disapointed, and realized everything had changed. The economic crisis has hit his family and will force him to take hard decissions. The game has ended and he will have to find his place in the real world.

  • Amparo Climent is a multidisciplinary artist. She was born in Valencia, she studied Fine Art at Universidad Complutense of Madrid and acting at the valencian school «El Micalet» . She has work intensively in television, theatre and films. She has directed and written the documentaries «Las Lagrimas de Africa» and «Las mujeres de Idomeni», still in editing. She has made many short films, as Recuerdos en el Jardin (2015), A.D.N. (2008), El viaje de Robles (2013), El sueño de Mireille (2014).  Author of many dramatic texts,  «El ultimo destello» recieved «El Premio Agustin Gonzalez  de Teatro 2011). She has won many awards in her carreer as an actress, like “Mejor actriz por el Ayuntamiento de Bilbao”. She is also an acomplished plastic artist with individual and colective international exhibitions. She has the «Medalla de Oro del Real Circulo Artístico” of Barcelona. She founded in 1998 SINOPSIS, the first screen writers agency of the country. She was co-creator and director of ABC Guionistas, specialised consulting firm on writing services. She is member of the board of “Academia de las Artes y de las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España» and member of CIMA , an association of female filmmakers. And with the collective Generando Arte, she works on plastic and visual projects about gender issues.
