The ACM Foundation celebrates the new poster of the Mostra de València / Cinema of the Mediterrani to be held from 18 to 28 October 2018.

As is well known, the Mediterranean Citizen’ Assembly Foundation (FACM) has been a significant part of the citizen movement that, since 2011, has denounced the closing of a cultural event by the València City Council. This cultural meeting was a heritage of the city, of such profound significance.

The festival, integrated by the Mostra de Cinema, Trobada de Música and Encontre d’Escriptors expressed the will to turn Valencia into a free meeting point of Mediterranean cultures. That will, embodied in the eighties of the last century by the municipal corporation that was recently recovered democracy, was gradually faded and permanently buried in 2011.

It was the push and decision of the citizenship and broad sectors of the cultural forces that, without resigning themselves, were grouped in the Citizen Association under the name of Mostra Viva del Mediterrani, that since 2013 and up to the present, resuscitated that initiative of deep civic and cultural significance.

Mostra Viva del Mediterrani for five years (2013-2018) has made possible the continued presence of the various cultural expressions of the Mediterranean peoples in Valencia. And this year, the month of October will become the month of the cultures of the Mediterranean people, through audiovisual, musical, literary, scenic and plastic arts, guaranteed by the Mostra de Cinema and the various activities of the Mostra Viva del Mediterrani.

Sharing the two reference posters, we reiterating the hope and support of the ACM Foundation that València becomes a permanent place for the expression in freedom of the fraternity cultures of the Mediterranean people.
